Small moments, shape the day

A typical nursery day

Small moments shape each nursery day. From arriving and settling, to play, time outdoors and shared meals, these everyday experiences build confidence and calm. Together, they create a familiar rhythm that helps children feel safe, supported and ready to grow.

The start of the day

Arriving and settling

Children arrive at their own pace.

There is time to settle, play and reconnect with familiar faces.

A gentle start helps children feel safe and ready for the day.

Learning through play

Morning play and learning

Children explore a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces.

Play is open-ended, with adults supporting learning through conversation and shared experiences. The morning includes small group teaching where we focus on developing language, maths, social skills and physical development.

Friendships begin and confidence grows.

Specialist teaching

Music, art, dance, gymnastics and gardening

All of our nurseries have access to a range of specialist teachers who provide weekly lessons for our nursery children. These include music, art, dance, gymnastics and sport, and time outside in our forest school spaces and gardens.

Time outside

Outdoor learning & Forest School

Time outdoors is part of the day.

Children move, explore and play in the garden or outdoor space.

Fresh air and movement support focus and wellbeing.

Lunchtime

Eating together

Lunchtimes are calm and social with children eating together, family style, in our nursery spaces.

Children are encouraged to try new foods and enjoy eating together. Routines help children feel relaxed and cared for.

Rest and quiet moments

Time to rest and sleeping safely

Younger children rest when they need to.

All of our baby and 2 year old settings have designated quiet spaces for sleeping and follow the DfE statutory guidance on safe sleeping.

Older children enjoy quiet activities, stories and calm play. Rest supports learning and wellbeing.

The afternoon

Afternoon play & Learning

Children choose how to spend the afternoon.

Play continues indoors and outdoors, with time to create, explore and unwind. Independence grows through everyday decisions.

Hometime

The end of the day

Families are welcomed back and key moments from the day are shared. Children leave feeling settled and secure.

Activities continue through the extended session for those families who pick up a little later.

The nursery day follows a familiar rhythm, with flexibility for every child.

Small moments, carefully held.
