About us

Charter Nurseries is a growing group of school-based nurseries in Lambeth and Southwark. We are part of The Charter Schools Educational Trust, a family of high-performing primary and secondary schools committed to building better futures for children and young people.

We were created because families in our communities told us they needed high-quality, affordable early years education rooted in strong schools and strong relationships. Today, we are four nurseries, offering early education and day care for children from 9 months old.

We were among the first school-based settings in London to offer provision for children under three in 2015. That spirit of innovation continues today.

Leading early years practice in South London

Charter Nurseries is home to the Department for Education Early Years Stronger Practice Hub for South London. Through the hub, we work alongside other early years providers to share research-informed practice, strengthen professional development and improve outcomes for young children across the region.

This means the practice in our nurseries is not static. It is continually refined, informed by the best available evidence and shaped by collaboration with other schools and settings.We believe in achieving together. What we learn, we share.

As part of The Charter Schools Educational Trust, our nurseries are connected to a wider educational community known for strong outcomes, inclusive practice and an evidence-informed approach. That same commitment shapes our early years provision.

We do not see nursery as childcare alone. It is the beginning of a child’s education - and those early experiences matter.
